Business Model Transparency Summary

Hi, my name is ____

Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm a smaller sized influencer with just under 90k followers as of June 2024. I love making content. I do not love the way that companies don't do any research on me before approaching me in my inbox, and offer me to sell products that I don't like or care about for a low commission rate in relation to the product's total revenue.

Business Goals and Strategy

My end goal is to pay other influencers well with a transparent and healthy working relationship while having little money of my own to actually start a business. This means two things for my business model. First, all of the products are drop shipped through a 3rd party made-to-order printing service because I don't have the time or money to manage an inventory. And second, that I can't afford to pay influencers directly to make ads, so I bump up the product price to pay out a high commission instead. The way I'm planning on making money is to give creators products that match their target audiences and to make my selling my stuff worth their time.

Pricing, Commissions, and Cash Flow

By default I mark up a product by either 9$ or by 40%, whichever is higher. The base price of shirts on my shop ranges from $12-20 based on size, and anything else like tote bags and mugs will fall in a similar price range. When I put a product on the TikTok shop, any influencers who sell it make 50% of my revenue as commission.  For most of my audience shipping fees should be under $5, and are a necessary expense from my drop shipper that I don't see any revenue from.

To keep the storefront running at a mild profit I need to make $120 monthly, to pay for hosting the store website and my design software. That amounts to 25-30 products a month if 100% of sales go through the TikTok shop.

Final thoughts and goals

I do genuinely have fun making silly designs by hand, and I would love to be able to scale up my business. My main goal isn't to make a lot of money, it's to change the standard of the influencer economy so that smaller creators don't get shafted so much. For influencers, cheers to future profits. For customers, none of these products are a necessity but I hope you like them anyway.
